Would you like to live in a Finnish home?

Welcome to Finland, asylum seeker! Did you know, that you can choose where you want to live while waiting for the asylum decision? Homestay Network helps you to get to know Finns that want to welcome asylum seekers to live in their homes.

There are over 4,000 members in the network around Finland. We are a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and non-governmental organization. We believe, that living in a Finnish home makes the procedure of applying for asylum less stressful and makes it easier for you to familiarize yourself with the Finnish people, language, and culture.

If you want to live in a Finnish home either alone or with your spouse or family, do the following:

Tell us more about your situation and your wishes. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. We will pass your information on to the local group closest to you. They will contact you, and arrange a meeting with you and the possible host.

You can also contact directly a local group of Home Accommodation Network closest to you. You can find a list of the groups here.

2. Meet the possible host

The local group arranges a meeting for you and the possible host. In the meeting, you will have a chance to get to know each other a little bit and talk about each other’s hopes and wishes for the homestay.

3. Home accommodation contract

If, after the meeting, both parties are willing to live together, you can move into your new home. The local group will help you fill the home accommodation contract and arrange all the practicalities with the reception center.

4. Living together

At first, it is advisable to agree on many practical things that come up when living together. The local group and the support people of Homestay Network help you get started. They will be there for you and your host also for the whole duration of your homestay.
